Poetry Night

'CoverCover of The Tortilla Curtain

The first Thursday in October is also the first day of the month so don’t let Poetry Night slip by! The monthly gathering will feature reading of poetry by local poets and poetry lovers with topics related to this year’s One Book selection, “The Tortilla Curtain.” Poetry about community, the crossing of barriers and borders, and the American Dream will be shared. As always, readers are welcome to select any subject and share one of their favorites, or just come and purchase a beverage and enjoy listening to others’ selections.

The Oct. 1, Poetry Night session begins at 5:30 p.m. at The Coffee Attic, 604 Washington Ave., Iowa Falls. Ellsworth Community College Assistant Professor of English Michael Rottink will facilitate this session and welcomes everyone to come share or listen.

Poetry Night is sponsored by Iowa Valley Continuing Education, ECC, and The Book Cellar & Coffee Attic. It is free and open to all lovers and writers of poetry on the first Thursday of each month. Poets and poetry lovers are invited to read poems or come enjoy a casual evening of poetry and discussion.
